Foodie Friday {11}

So you would think a girl would learn her lesson regarding wi-fi from earlier this summer when I made the decision to rely on it to write a Foodie Friday while I was out of town.  At least that time I had a connection, albeit a crappy one.  How is there a Marriot in the world that doesn’t have wi-fi at all?!  Apparently the one I was at in New Orleans was that way.

I gave up on trying and decided, ya know what–I’m on vacation, these posts can wait.  So, thank you guys for sitting tight.  I had a great two weeks away: I helped build part of a house for Habitat for Humanity; I ate some really expensive food; I learned a ton; I froze on a lake (thank you polar vortex for your timely return to Wisconsin); I played some Cards Against Humanity; I became one with my Sconnie soul and learned that I kind of really like Old Fashioneds.

I’m back now, I promise.  And I have no big traveling plans for the rest of summer….so… let’s get to the goods.  Here are some of my favorite yummy finds around the interwebs…..

Yep, I’m still obsessed with the grill.  If I can grill something that isn’t meat, I’m always skeptical of how well it’ll turn out.  These grilled peaches look divine.

If you know me, you know I have a soft spot for a good Bloody Mary.  Fries with a Bloody Mary Ketchup?  Bound to be delish.

I only had my first falafel about a year ago.  There is a food cart here in Madison that seriously has THE BEST.  I think attempting to re-create it at home would make life way easier.  This recipe for baked falafel would be the perfect addition to Meatless Monday.

Is there anything better than French Onion Soup at a fancy restaurant?  The crusty cheese.  The juicy crouton.  This french onion soup grilled cheese may make the at-home version even more attainable (and maybe even tastier!).

I know breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  I have such a hard time eating it, though, because that means having a functional brain in the morning.  These Salted Caramel Mocha Overnight Oats are a perfect solution–throw it together at night and have a yummy meal waiting for you to head out the door.

When I do the whole breakfast thing, eggs benedict and biscuits and gravy are my two favorites.  This country benedict combines the best of both worlds.

I don’t think you could pack much more awesome between two pieces of bread.  BLT + Lobster.  Epic.

Did you know that Caesar Salad is actually a Mexican invention?  When I lived in Oaxaca, I even had it made table side, dressing and all.  This chicken caesar burger would be good alone, but add the parmesan crisps and it’s a whole new burger.

“S-apostrophe-M-O-R-E, S’mores for you and S’mores for me.”  Yep, we’re obsessed with Dairy Queen right now.  Those blizzards, yum.  Yes, I’m still an ice cream addict, however, no-bake s’mores cheesecake may just win out.

I’m not a huge fan of sweet scones, but savory–bring ‘em on.  These cheddar scallion scones are not only tasty, they’re cheap!

 What do you want in your belly this week?  Any good farmers market finds you’re particularly obsessed with?  Please share!  I’m always looking for new goodies!

    Awesome post Katie!!! The food in the links looks so good and now I’m hungry. Note to self – don’t read these posts when you’re hungry. It’s like shopping at the grocery store when you’re hungry. I want to buy everything. The French onion soup grilled cheese looked to die for!

      OMG right? I have SUCH a hard time writing these some weeks because I can’t narrow it down! I have to make sure I’m not hungry when I do it because otherwise it’s real bad news.
